Acne is a chronic disease with serious physical consequences, like long-term scarring, and equally significant psycho-social consequences: depression, anxiety, decreased self-confidence, embarrassment and perception of decreased employability among sufferers. It affects 80% of teenagers and many adults – including 35% of women between the ages of 30 and 40.

Fortunately, there are treatments – and treatments that really work. Retinoids, antibiotics, benozyl peroxide: all of these have proven success. But only when they’re used correctly. And far too frequently, they aren’t.

That’s why we’re looking for an innovative way to promote adherence, encouraging people to stick to their course of treatment and see real positive outcomes.

There are various barriers to overcome. Time constraints play a role, as does the perceived social stigma around skin conditions. There might be a fear of side effects, or concerns around cost. But we think that the fundamental issue is a lack of knowledge about acne, and confusion about how to use treatments.

So we want to move beyond just telling people what to do and warning them that a lack of adherence will lead to a lack of results. Together with you, we want to develop new tools to support patients, facilitate proper usage and boost adherence.

It might be a behavioural nudge delivered through a new app, or a digital tool which helps people to make skin health part of their normal routine. It might be a new resource which helps simplify information and make conditions and their treatment easier to understand. Whatever your solution, we want to hear from you.

Together, we’ll develop an easy-to-use solution which will fit seamlessly into a patient’s day-to-day and ensure they see better results.

Why It Matters

As the world’s leading nutrition, health and wellness company, we offer a whole host of products & services designed to enhance quality of life. The Nestlé Skin Health portfolio treats an array of uncomfortable and sometimes embarrassing conditions which we believe can have just as great an impact on a person’s day-to-day as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes or arthritis. Through this project, we’re helping people to feel better and reduce the suffering caused by acne.
