Leading brands across all industries and sectors have an incredible opportunity to use their role for the power of good. As one of the world’s most recognisable food products, KITKAT is uniquely placed to positively impact the environment and the communities in which we operate. Through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan programme, we work hard to improve the lives of cocoa farmers and the quality of their products. But now we’re looking for a partner to help us boost the initiative and take it to the next level.

Research shows us that consumers prefer brands that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability. And the more they opt for our products, the more we’re able to give back to the Nestlé Cocoa Plan initiative, supporting our partner suppliers across the globe. It allows us to tackle child labour, improve education, increase access to water and sanitation, and promote gender equality around the world.

We’re confident that our consumers would want to be a part of this amazing programme and support communities in developing countries. But many don’t get the chance to experience the impact we’re having in an engaging way. They might not even know that each KITKAT purchase gives something so tangible back to the people responsible for its creation.

Working with you, an external partner, we want to create an experience or platform that will bring our sustainability initiatives to life. We want to show our consumers the impact they can have and demonstrate just how much social and environmental sustainability can be improved when we set our minds to supporting our partners responsibly, ethically and proactively. The solution should be something new, innovative, credible and engaging. Ideally, we’d like there to be a direct link between interacting with the platform and supporting the Nestlé Cocoa Plan project.

So we’re open to all of your responses to our two big questions. How can we bring home the benefit and value of our sustainability practices to our farmers, communities and consumers? And how can we build on progress so far to allow the KITKAT brand to make an even bigger impact? We’re open to a whole range of ideas, from apps and augmented reality experiences to experiential solutions, and much more.

The successful solution, and our chosen partner, will not only find new ways of engaging with our consumers and helping them to experience the Nestlé Cocoa Plan. It will also allow them to join the conversation and become an active part of our ambition to promote fair and sustainable farming.

Why it matters

We understand and embrace our role in enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future. One key tenet of that Purpose is the Nestlé Cocoa Plan. Through this project, we’re giving consumers the opportunity to experience and participate in KITKAT’s global sustainability efforts and their positive impact on social and environmental sustainability. This will increase awareness of how we’re creating shared value for farmers, suppliers and partners, generate appeal for the brand and ensure that the Nestlé Cocoa Plan can continue to play a major role in communities across the world, as well as providing an ethical choice for our hundreds of millions of consumers.


Every project on HENRi has signed-off funding of US$50,000 to pilot a proof-of-concept in market.
